Happy New Year! Long time no see!
It’s been unusually long since I’ve had anything new for you. I don’t feel great about that but there are always reasons. As complicated as life is, I have been hard at work on numerous projects… and that seems to be the problem.
Lately I seem to have a traffic jam of things I want to get done. I have one project that I call my “Big WIP” when I refer to it on social media. I’ve been working on it since last March, am not yet halfway through, and still have a lot of good stuff to put into it (and may need to do some serious edits once I have a draft.) I don’t expect to be done that one until 2026.
I have plans on the drawing board for more installments of Poles Reversed, the series I write as “Logan Fournier,” which has proven very popular on Amazon. I can’t quite seem to work that into the schedule though. Again, I have multiple entries in various stages of development and all it would take would be for me to sit down and focus a little bit.
And then there are two medium-sized works, possible novellas, that I am interested in writing. One, I know is deep on the backburner, but the other one interests me more day by day. All told, that makes six works of considerable length I could be devoting my time to. You see the problem. Add in the fact that every so often I get an idea for a short story to tinker with, none of which have really amounted to anything but are at least good to keep sharp, and you’ve got one busy Liam… and we haven’t even discussed the fact that I have a whole other life to live!
I feel like, now that we are most of the way through January, I am coming out of a Holiday-induced daze, where I have more mental energy and clarity to think about the things that I want to write.
I would love to have something for you before too long, possibly by the Spring, but unlike previous years, I am having a hard time setting my priorities. I often receive the advice “Focus on what interests you most,” but that is hard to follow because I love them all for different reasons. Some are fun, some are rewarding, some represent unique challenges to my usual mode of writing.
Above all, writing for me is a fun hobby. Getting time to do it is great — but getting to show it to you is the best part, so I hope that time comes soon.
Thanks for listening, I hope you are well, and be kind!
-Liam
