It’s been an odd summer. I have actually written a lot, but I never seem to stay focused on task long enough to get something finished. As a result I have several stories half or 66% done, but nothing that I feel confident showing right now. I had certainly hoped I would be producing a lot during my summer, but I only have my overactive imagination to blame for that.
That said, I took in a showing of Back to the Future: The Musical yesterday. The movie is one of my favourites ever and I’ve seen it hundreds of times, but on this occasion a few thoughts were jostled loose about the mysteries of time travel and the changing of reality after Marty gets back.
I don’t write a lot of fanfic — in fact I’ve never put any out there whatsoever, since I’d rather work on things I came up with — but I weighed whether this would be worth adapting into something original with a winking implied nod of “Inspired By,” or just go with the original characters since would make more sense for everyone anyway.
Therefore I present to you a quick fragment: Back to the Present, a glimpse at an alternate outcome for Marty McFly and the Doc. It’s mostly just exposition, technobabble, and setup for what would be the premise of a full-length story, if I ever choose to write it, but I’m posting it as a sort of “You get the gist, right?”
You can also check in on various characters written by me an a multitude of others during perhaps the busiest summer ever at The Trading Post!
Beyond that, I will continue to plug away at the various ideas I’ve got cooking until something reaches the finish line.
Until then Be Kind,
Liam
