I'm often drawn to bad movies like a moth to a flame. I would rather snark my way through a piece of trash than sit in awe of genuine art. That's just how I'm wired. So when my wife convinced me to watch one of M. Night Shayamalan's most recent messes on Netflix, my finger … Continue reading Old (2021), the Power of Off-Limits Tropes, and Building a Story
I've seen x-number of TG-themed films and TV shows in my time. Usually, they are closer to "It's a Boy-Girl Thing," fun farcical takes on gender roles where people learn fairly obvious lessons about themselves while pursuing their objectives and dealing with the wrinkle of being trapped in another person's body. Conventional, formulaic stories that … Continue reading Pulse (2017) Review
It's been a while since I've been able to check in but that doesn't mean I haven't been active... and people viewing the site may not know what they're looking for here or where to go! So welcome! My name is Liam Slade (he/him). I create fiction and my main interests are physical and mental … Continue reading Welcome Post!
I'm very pleased and excited to announce the release of my latest novella, Both! Both tells the story of Lucy and Shawn. When they reconnect years after their first hookup, Lucy is wary that Shawn will flake out again, but excited that he seems to be everything she could want in a man: charming, passionate … Continue reading New Novella BOTH now available, and more news!
I've been pretty quiet lately, both here and on Twitter, so I thought I would pop in and give anyone who happened upon this blog the latest updates and share some thoughts that have been running through my head. 2023 Projects At the beginning of the year, I made some big declarations about what I … Continue reading A junk drawer of thoughts
Writing can be such an elusive high. There's the thrill of being in progress of course, and the cosmic release of actually putting something out into the world, but if you're not careful, you can crash. I'm prone to it -- in 2022 I spent a lot of time feverishly hammering away on something I … Continue reading Being Excited About Writing Again
Hi all, I'm taking time out of my day being Realname to pass along some updates about what I hope to achieve in 2023. I had very high hopes for 2022 and they didn't all materialize. That's okay, I worked hard and pursued a lot of ideas that didn't meet my satisfaction. At the end … Continue reading The Liam Slade 2023 Slate
Somewhere along the way -- maybe amidst some very heartfelt responses to stories like The Fish of the Desert and Cat Fisher -- I found my standards being raised. There are a few stories on this site that maybe don't live up to what I want to do but for the most part everything I … Continue reading Taking a breather (and getting back to it)
After spending the year grinding away at various stories, I have finally managed to complete another new work to finish off 2022 -- and it couldn't have come at a better time.
I had such huge ambitions going into this year. My early releases on Amazon were successful beyond my expectations and they motivated me to keep working. I managed to get The Princess Awakening written in an impressively short time, and had hopes that I could repeat the trick several times throughout the year. Well, the … Continue reading Long time no see – an update
